Rummy is a group of card games notable for gameplay based on the matching of similar playing cards. Indian Rummy is a two player game played with 13 cards dealt to each player which they have to arrange as Sequences and Sets. It is a turn based game in which each player on his turn hasthe option to pick the top card from either an open deck (which is a pile of cards discarded in previous rounds) or a closed deck (which is the pile of undealt cards). The first player to arrange all of his 13 cards as Sequences and Sets wins the game. Before the cards are dealt, one of the cards is designated to be used as a wildcard or a Joker meaning that all cards of the that rank can be used in place of any other card.
Rummy is undoubtedly a game of skill, a fact which has been upheld even by the Supreme Court of India in its landmark judgment case of State of A.P. Vs K.Satya Narayana, A.I.R 1968 SC 825 and also in subsequent rulings.
